10 Things to know about Fiber Artist Poliana Danila

Poliana Danila is a landscape designer turned fiber artist and broom maker. Not just any broom maker…she’s a true artisan and maker of handmade woven brooms of exquisite beauty!

Originally from Romania, Poliana watched her parents and grandparents working in the garden and combining whatever the natural world provided to make beautifully crafted works of art. With a graduate degree in Landscape Design and Horticulture Poliana has incorporated her knowledge of plant life into her beautiful pieces.

What is your most treasured possession?
The tools that I work with.

Who, or what is the greatest love of your life?
There are a number of great loves in our lives, however, I take it at who was the most significant and made the biggest impact in your life.

My two children, my love for life, my close and extended family, and my friends.

When and where were you the happiest?
Giving birth to a human.

What is your greatest fear?
Sometimes I wonder with fear what will happen to my children if something happens to me.

What is your greatest extravagance?
I love teaching workshops, but I love going to workshops to improve my skills and learn more… I call them “my spa moments”.

What do you most value in your friends?
Honesty, kindness and joy.

Which talent would you most like to have?
To be able to dance professionally.

Who are your heroes in real life?
My parents, for their integrity, their ability to persevere when things become difficult, their commitment to fighting for what’s morally right and their compassion for others. Gabor Mate, for his humble, caring words, knowledge and demeanor.

Which living person do you most admire?
There isn’t a single person I most admire. Some that I do admire are Gabor Mate, Hilary Hahn, Ana Teresa Barboza.
